Beaver Ponds: Located at Sacramento Creek Ranch
Beaver Ponds Environmental Education Center (BPEEC) provides a place for individuals of all ages to see, learn, share, and explore. Through hands-on demonstrations, educational tours, seminars and workshops, BPEEC exemplifies how people, plants, and animals can happily coexist. Situated on 70 acres at 10,200 feet, BPEEC is located at Sacramento Creek Ranch, which borders Pike National Forest. The ranch offers a variety of natural attributes, making it a unique and engaging place to learn about the natural world.
An interpretive trails offer stunning views of the Mosquito Range while winding through evergreen forests, riparian zones along Sacramento Creek, and sagebrush shrublands. Built with the Earth in mind, the ranch utilized local, recycled, and re-purposed building materials. The alternative energy systems offer exciting learning opportunities.
With the remains of the 1800s Duquesne smelter on the property, and the Sacramento Ditch, BPEEC fits in with the rich history that surrounds it.
